CHARACTER STUFF
Name: Metabee
Aliases: KBT-1
Canon: Medabots
Role: Superhero, CONDOR Weapon
Species: Medabot
Gender: Male
Age: Probably only a few years; has the emotional maturity of a 15 year old human
Appearance:
Metabee is a small robot with a rather blocky build, standing at about 4ft including his horns (3ft at the top of his head). His body is covered with gold and white metal armor, with black gun barrels and bright green eyes. His appearance is meant to emulate a hercules beetle.

Origin Story:
The Medabot Corporation is well known for their numerous breakthroughs in the fields of technology, robots and weaponry. When they were approached by CONDOR to develop a unique combat weapon which would be able to think independently and adapt to different scenarios, it only made sense for them to combine the knowledge gained from their previous successes into one advanced project. The Medabot Project commenced almost immediately, focused on the creation of a series of small robotic protoypes with advanced artificial intelligence which could think and act on their own. Each Medabot was unique, possessing different capabilities and weaponry designed for different environments and scenarios. Years of research and development finally led to the first series of Medabots, each with a highly advanced AI system.
However, during early testing phases it became evident that each of the Medabots' AI was developing at different rates and their core programming was evolving. All of the prototypes were developing unique personalities and quirks, some more extreme than others. While these variances did not directly impact the functionality of the small robots, the research teams at the Medabot Corp. was eager to continue observing the changes, hoping to identify what aspect of the AI was causing them and isolate it. It soon became clear that the Medabots were developing nearly human psyches, which was as exciting as it was startling. The project was almost terminated due to the controversy of creating sentient life. Eventually, CONDOR approved the project to continue, and implemented an extended testing period for the project, which was primarily focused on observing how the robots interacted with normal humans, and whether their behavior truly demonstrated a sentient species.
KBT-1, known as Metabee, was one of the more drastic outliers, with a strong personality and a disregard for authority. The KBT line was designed for mid to long range combat situations which required increased agility and firepower. While Metabee successfully completed all previous tests, his attitude and occasionally reckless behavior was seen as an extremely troubling quality. Each Medabot was evaluated on a case by case basis and assigned to different scenarios for testing. Some were allowed to carry out their intended purpose solo and self report. Others remained with the Medabots Corporation or CONDOR. Due to his psychological similarities to teenage humans, Metabee was assigned to a registered team of young superhero, in the hopes that being surrounded by a team of driven individuals would be a positive influence on his personalty.
UPDATE: Following the invasion of LA by cybernetic monsters and a flaw in the Medabots core programming that left them susceptible to external interference,CONDOR took complete control of the Medabot Program and began correcting these issues and upgrading the Medabots. Metabee, as one of the most advanced Medabots created to date, was returned to active duty within CONDOR. However, as opposed to his previous service with the Trailblazers, Metabee acts as a supporting asset to other agents on their missions, more inline with the original goal of the project.
Personality:
Metabee is pretty social and loves to be the center of attention. He is often distracted by praise and pretty much any compliment will go directly to his head. He tends to judge people quickly, for him first impressions are everything as it will take a lot of effort to change his mind about a person. While it takes a while to earn his full respect, once you do Metabee is incredibly loyal and will stand by you no matter what. He likes to surround himself with other people who are equally driven and as strong as he is. Metabee cares deeply for the people he is close to, especially those who are kind and caring to him.
Aggressive and stubborn, Metabee is significant amongst the other Medabots for being one of the few with a serious authority problem. He will follow orders it usually won't be completely willingly, and tends to respond best when the order is phrased as a challenge. Metabee has a huge ego and is obsessed with proving himself as the best at pretty much everything. He can be pretty hot headed and pick fights easily, which doesn't mix well with his tendency to be pretty 'trigger happy.' While he is overconfidence and headstrong, Metabee is genuinely driven to improve himself and his abilities if, and will seek out anyone who can help him achieve his goals. When he isn't working to become the best Medabot and superhero or on a CONDOR mission Metabee is usually pretty lazy and it can be difficult to coerce him into any activity if it doesn't interest him.
UPDATE: After his experience with the AI that took over his mind and used him to hurt his fellow Trailblazers, and the subsequent slew of media implying he couldn't do his job, Metabee felt extremely angry and inadequate about himself and his abilities. This was only strengthened by the ensuing recall of the Medabots, and since he has been released to CONDOR he has sworn to do whatever it takes to prove himself as not only a competent hero but one of the best in the world.
Differences from Canon:
As far as abilities and personality go, Metabee is pretty much the same as in canon. Major differences include his desire to prove himself as the best superhero he can be (versus being a champion Medabot), and the fact that in this universe Medabots do not require a human partner to function.
Power Level: C
Powers:
Metabee has some combat training, including hand to hand though that is not his specialty. He is equipped with an arsenal specialized for mid- and long-ranged combat; his main weaponry include his Seeker Missiles (a pair of heat seeking missiles which launch from his 'horns') and the Laser Cannons mounted in his arms (semi-automatic laser rounds).
While Metabee is slightly more durable than a human, he can still feel pain and loses power and agility as his components are damaged. The core of the Medabot's AI, a small metallic chip known as a Medal, is located behind a panel in his back. If this is removed, he will cease function immediately. If the medal is installed in a compatible system, he will be able to reboot and have control of whatever platform he is in. Being a robot, Metabee is unable to swim without specialized parts, and in general gets extremely fearful and paranoid about large bodies of water, especially the ocean.

Yo, so the head honcho wants me to write an introduction here or some junk. Probably to prepare you for how awesome I am before I get there; just looking out for you guys. The name's Metabee and I am the single coolest bot you will ever meet in your life. The eggheads here finally realized that all these tests are a joke, figured I could pick up your guys' slack. Don't feel too bad when I show you all up with my awesome crime fighting skills! Not everyone can be as great as me. Anyway, I have a plane to catch so I’ll see all you losers later.
Metabee out!
Prose Sample:
He'd snuck up to the corner of the building, crouched behind some trash cans in the opening of the alley. It was difficult to make out anything in the dark, but he could hear a door being rattled around the corner and someone muttering quietly. Still rather new to these situations, Metabee slowly peeked around the corner, catching sight of two hooded figures trying to break into the building closest to him.
“Ok, stealth and surprise. Easy as pie."
"What was that?"
Wait, did he say that out loud? Yeah, he totally did. Metabee quickly scrambled back out of sight, but in his panic knocked over one of the trash cans nearest him.
"Oh man..."
The burglars jumped up at the noise, revealing two other bots similar to himself hidden beneath the sweatshirts. They quickly moved back without a word, taking advantage of his stumble to take aim with their guns. He jumped over the knocked over trashcan, taking aim with his laser cannons.
“It’s time to take out the trash, and I don’t mean this garbage.”
As he finished speaking the burglars opened fire on him, forcing him to dodge their attack before retaliating. “Come on guys, watch the paint job.”
The narrow alley worked well for his smaller size, allowing him to hide behind dumpsters before firing, the flashes from his cannons lighting up the darkness. His adversaries had managed to take refuge behind some crates further down the alley, and the firefight dragged on for minutes.
"Look, dudes, I am kind of on a time crunch here, so I'm gonna end this quick. Let's go! Missile Launch!" He leapt backwards as the two seeker missiles fired toward their targets. The force of the explosion threw him back into the trash cans, knocking over all those still standing and leaving him sitting in the pile of junk. The smoke cleared, revealing the alleyway, the walls riddled with laser burns, a chunk of the adjacent wall missing completely. There were no sign of the burglars, probably buried under the rubble. Then the lights clicked on.
“Exercise failed. Reset simulation.” Metabee glanced up in the direction of the voice, coming from an intercom in the corner, and leapt off of the garbage pile he had fallen in, shaking with rage.
"WHAT!?! What is your problem, man!? I stopped the bad guys!"
“This exercise was for stealth and minimal damage, KBT-1”
“Well...yeah. So what?”
“You will exit the test and wait to rerun the simulation”
“Whatever, dude, whatever.” He brushed himself down and slowly stalked toward the door, grumbling.
